Play with a hornets nest and you get stung. Syria seems very much like a hornets to me; brightly coloured, volatile, and boasting a nasty missile arsenal.
No doubt this is an intensely complicated situation. Will bombing Syria do anything but provoke the hornets nest? It will presumably take a series of attacks to eliminate the threat. I can only imagine the atrocities that Syrian civilians will or would experience in the mean time (bombs, chemical warfare, and massive death)
Letting the situation run its course and taking diplomatic approaches that defuse whatever it is motivating Syria to kill its citizens might most certainly save the bloodshed and destruction.
